The GFTN-Netherlands is managed by the FSC Netherlands office. It was founded in 1999 by 3 NGOs and 17 companies, with the aim to promote:

  1. Sustainable forest management by encouraging the use of certified timber and certified timber products, particularly those certified in accordance with the FSC system,
  2. The recognition of the quality mark(s), the FSC logo in particular and
  3. The exchange of acquired knowledge within commerce and industry regarding all aspects of the use of durably produced timber.

FSC still the best
WWF recently commissioned an assessment of the two global forest certicification schemes, using the  Forest Certification Assement Guide (FCAG). Based on this latest FCAG assessment as well as other previous assessments, WWF concludes that FSC still best meets WWF's core requirements for forest certification.  » Read more
