WWF together with UPM, a global forest product company headquartered in Finland, and DNV, a Norwegian-based foundation, have on 1 March received the Forest Leadership 2006 Partnership Award for a joint project on forest certification.

The Award, given by ForestLeadership, an organization aimed at promoting sustainable forestry by developing leadership, recognizes "commendable teamwork between different orgnizations such as conservation organizations and corporations to further sustainable forestry". It comes with a prize money of CDN$1000 which WWF, UPM and DNV have agreed to donate to a village community project in Mozambique. The village has a sacred forest where the villagers go to worship their ancestors and which forms an important part of their lives.
